Always looking for new ways to "self create", Ali tapped into her love of Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra and conceived The Frank and Ella Show back in 2011. Originally performing with vocalist Lance Ellington (pictured below), the show sold out Ronnie Scott's twice, sold out The New Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich and "Frank and Ella's Swingin' Christmas" with the full big band took Snape Maltings Concert Hall by storm.
Alison is currently rehearsing a new show and looks forward to getting this up and running in the near future.
About the show
Frank & Ella is a nostalgic celebration of a bygone era. Alison and her partner tip their hats to two of the finest entertaininers of our time and the songs that made them famous: Fly Me To The Moon, A Tisket a Tasket, I've Got You Under My Skin, Black Magic & How High the Moon to name a few. Every song, every iconic arrangement in this elegant show will induce a nostalgic sigh.
With so many tribute acts on offer, what makes this show unique is that Lance and Alison honour Ol' Blue Eyes and The First Lady of Song without impersonating them. Always remaining true to who they are as artists in their own right, each vocalist brings an effortless elegance, humour and great respect for the original artists on stage with them.
Where would Ella and Frank have been without the likes of Count Basie or Nelson Riddle? The arrangements of these songs are equally as well known. The show features all of the original orchestrations that the audience would surely anticipate, whilst giving select numbers a subtle twist.
The show has been designed to go out with an 18 piece Big Band but works equally as well with a six piece line-up.
